Niah · How it works

How Niah's event matchmaking works

Niah adds a short set of questions to the registration form you already send. It takes each guest about thirty seconds. Niah reads what every guest said they came for, works out which introductions are worth making, and sends each guest three of them on WhatsApp before the doors open. Every introduction says why the two people were matched. There is no app for your guests to download and nothing for you to migrate.

1. Three signals, inside your existing registration

Niah does not run a separate sign-up. Its questions sit inside the registration form your guests already fill in. The live form asks closer to ten short questions, and every one of them maps to one of three signals:

The goal signal is the one that does the work. It is also the one most registration forms never ask for, which is why most attendee data can only support matching on job title and company.

2. Matching on what the guest wants

Niah pairs guests on stated intent: what this person is looking for, set against what that person can offer. Shared industry, school or job title are weak proxies for that. Two people in the same industry usually have the least to trade, and a shared job title mostly predicts polite small talk.

Matching on intent is not unique to Niah, and the comparison worth drawing is about how the matches reach the guest rather than about the idea itself. That comparison is on Niah versus other event matchmaking tools.

3. Three introductions on WhatsApp, before doors open

Each guest receives three introductions through the WhatsApp Business API before the event starts, so they arrive with a plan rather than working the room cold. Here is the shape of the message a guest receives:

Hi Ana,

Your 3 matches for Talk Tonics are ready.

1. Marc Oliveira

You are looking for a technical co-founder. Marc left his engineering role in March and is looking for exactly this.

Conversation starter: "Ask him why he left when the round had just closed."

LinkedIn: /in/marcoliveira

You opted in to receive your event matches from Niah.

Example message, one of three. The reason and the conversation starter are part of the introduction, not an afterthought.

Why WhatsApp and not an event app

An event app has to be downloaded, opened and filled in before it can do anything, and most attendees never get past the first step. WhatsApp is already installed and already open. Delivering there means guest participation does not depend on app adoption, which is the usual reason event networking features go unused.

Guests opt in during registration, and every message states that they opted in. See the FAQ for consent and data questions.

What the organizer has to do

  1. Add the questions. Niah's signals go into your existing registration form. No new tool for your guests.
  2. Send the guest list. Niah matches on the answers you have already collected.
  3. Nothing on the night. Introductions go out before the doors open. Your team runs the event, not the matching.

What kind of events this fits

Professional events where guests come to meet people: conferences, summits, community meetups, campus events and networking dinners. Organizers who have run events with Niah include Impulso Madrid, IE Campus Life, Talk Tonics, Pitchless and LGBT+ @Work.
